On a typical day, a “suripera” boat is moved almost entirely by the wind. A fisherman will fish for hours without even using the engine, resulting in much less environmental impact.
When the wind is not strong enough, weights are placed in the edges of the sail and it's dropped underwater, this will move the boat fast enough to perform all fishing operations.
The majority of our boats have GPS tracking devices which provide valuable data that is used for our traceability program. This helps us know when and where a specific lot of shrimp was caught.
Our boats use the energy of the wind and tide for all fishing operations.
Our nets are operated by hand and any non-targeted species are easily thrown back in the ocean alive.
